Mexican Drug Cartel
Lilli, Alex, Savannah

Summary:

A 600 yard tunnel for smuggling drugs was recently discovered under the mexico border into San Diego. The tunnel was shut down on Wednesday after several weeks of surveillance. Authorities found 8 tons of marijuana and 325 of cocaine in the 4 foot tall, 3 foot wide tunnel. This was the fifth large scale drug smuggling tunnel discovered in San Diego since 2010.  These drug cartels have spent years and millions of dollars to create underground passages. Authorities have insisted that no drug smuggling tunnels are currently in operation.

This has to do with economics because it is a Black Market. A Black Market is an illegal transport of goods and services. They are an illegal market, so, there are no taxes and you do not know what you are you getting because it is not government regulated.

Question: The drug cartel has been around for many of years. Do you think in the future we could possibly stop the drug cartel?

We feel they can not stop the drug cartels because they will always find a way around the system. Instead of stopping these cartels, they should destroy the market for these drugs by teaching people why they should not use hard drugs.

I feel as if the drug cartel can not be stopped in the future, because it has been happening for so many years.

I feel that we will never be able to stop them because if a people wants something as bad as the Cartel wants money. Then the will go to all extents to get what they are looking for no matter the cost it is to them.

I do not think the drug cartel will ever be stopped. Drug cartels have too much power and they will always find a way to distribute their drugs.

Attempting to stop crime isn't the solution. We must make it more expensive to commit these crimes then the criminals can make doing them. Whether this means that we increase the difficulty for aquireng contraband, or we make it that people wouldn't have to turn to drugs or other illegal goods to feel alive.

I don't think that we could stop a large cartel without destroying the drug

Whether or not we citizens of the U.S. like it I believe that the cartel will happen if it is legal or not.

I don't think that we will ever be able to stop the drug cartels. They are spread out among too many different countries and they are also very secretive. Drug cartels are also known for violence, so if we tried to stop them, there would be a lot of blood shed in the process.

There is noway that there would be away for the drug cartel to every stop. The people would just find other ways around it and it had been around this long so I don't think nothing will happen in the geeraruon that we are currently living in right now.

I believe within the next 50 years the drug cartels won't be stopped because they have been in action for a long time already and haven't been stopped.

Black Markets are by definition unregulated leading to violence. The current drug war in Mexico has spilled over into the United States, and is negatively influencing the standard of living of some U.S. citizens, primarily those living is locations close to the Mexican border. This is a difficult problem to solve.
